Regex for Matching a 24-Hour Time (HH:MM:SS)

Matches a time string in 24-hour format with hours, minutes, and seconds.

Key points

• Correctly restricts hours to 00-23 and minutes/seconds to 00-59, unlike a naive \d{2}:\d{2}:\d{2} pattern

Example

^([01]\d|2[0-3]):[0-5]\d:[0-5]\d$
